The Band

Baloney Creek has been performing together for the past year. They have entertained at events such as bluegrass festivals, as well as private parties, convalescent homes, churches, etc. Their own personal bluegrass style has a twist of swing, a bit of blues, and a collection of old time fiddle tunes incorporated.

The band consists of four members.

Richard Rhyne, from Montreal, Canada, accompanies the band with his versatile guitar playing. He is both lead and rhythm guitar player, and occasionally picks up the banjo for some variety. Although he only plays these two instruments with Baloney Creek, he manages to "fiddle" around and also pick on the mandolin when he has time. He has been a dedicated musician since the age of 21 and is a skilled picker today.

Ed Bell, born and raised in Kilgore, Texas, has been involved in music for several years. He is one of the vocalists of Baloney Creek and also the mandolin player. However, he can also saw a fiddle, pick on the guitar, or play a tune on the banjo. He has performed with many musicians, learning what he can from them. At one time, he put together a band of his own, "Western Express", who specialized in good ole’ country music! He has enjoyed playing music all of his life. Today, he is one of Baloney Creek's members and band manager.

Barbara LaRae is California born, Bakersfield raised.  Has always had a passion for music from Gospel, Country, and Buck Owens, to Bluegrass and Old- time.  She still has her first Mickey Mouse guitar from age 4.  With a piano and clarinet background, it gave her a great foundation for her enjoying playing in string bands since nursing school in college.  She plays guitar, banjo, mandolin  and string bass.  She inherited her passion for the string bass from her dad who was a string bass player.  Barbara is the bass player for Baloney Creek Band.

Dalisay Richter
is the lead vocalist of Baloney Creek, as well as their fiddle player. She has studied classical music, but can't get away from bluegrass! She has performed with many groups for 15 years, learning from them as well as different instructors. Dalisay also manages to find time to spend on the piano (where she got her start,) the guitar, mandolin, and bass. She has held the state champion title for fiddling four times and had the opportunity to travel with her music worldwide. Today, she is one of the lead musicians of the band.

Baloney Creek has shared their music throughout the state, entertaining with traditional old-time fiddle tunes and country music songs. Their selection of music also includes gospel hymns as well as some originals. They have enjoyed performing at events such as the Hobbes Grove and Northfork bluegrass festivals, Caruthers Fair, and especially those intimate backyard parties when given the opportunity. Baloney Creek is truly interested in the satisfaction of their fans and spreading their style throughout. Their goals include touring and performing nationwide.
